The first team welcomed Jake Weatherald into their side on Saturday and despite being jet lagged he looked a million dollars, but his 66 from 52 balls wasn’t enough to bring the Griffins their first league victory of the season.
Barnsley won the toss and batted in the hottest Saturday of the season and lost Nathan Swift in the first over. Oliver Bennett made 10 before Ali Jahangir joined Jake at the crease and they added 62 before Jake was out leg before.
The innings didn’t falter as every batter made contributions. Ali made 35, Zak 16, Beck 20, Leo 26 and skipper Jason 32. Oliver Jackson hit 27 from 23 balls, as Barnsley made 270 all out.
The bowlers unfortunately couldn’t much the efforts of the batters, a reversal of last week as they toiled to take the wickets needed to claim their first win. Oliver Bennett was the only bowler who claimed more than a solitary wicket as Treeton reached their target with seven balls to spare.
