The fact that Barnsley got 11 players out onto the field on Saturday was a significant achievement, with 19 players unavailable.
Last season the fourth team had to concede their season early and a lot of effort has gone into recruitment at the lower level this last winter. Even the week before the Bradfield game, the club made three new signings. Both Kane Frostick and Kev Bamforth made their debuts for the club in an 118 run loss. Skipper Adrianna Darlow, who had to move up to play thirds this week, has spearheaded the recruitment and last weeks test of resources shows that the club can now look forward rather than back.
Jake Hepworth took four wickets for Barnsley and also looked assured with the bat too, making 17.
Teenagers Freddie Egginton and Oliver Heseltine both bagged a couple of wickets and old timers Chris Stott and Richard Ledger made 19 and 21 respectively.
The club have a lot returning from injury and unavailability this weekend and would like to thank though’s that helped out on Saturday.
