Jon Trower has decided to retire from top level competitive cricket. Following discussions with the club about what is best for the club and First team performance squad in order to build for the future.
Trower has decided to retire from cricket due to family commitments and lack of time to train.
Trower said "i would be adding very little and if not playing or training I wouldn’t bring anything to any squad the timing was right to hang the competitive boots up."
"It has been a really hard decision and the club really have tried to persuade me to continue but I think it is right for the club and I do genuinely believe we have enough depth in the team and squad to win the league and all formats.
Ultimately i think I’ll be playing some local stuff and want to make sure Alex (Jon's son) continues to be exposed to the game but where I can still hit some balls.
I’m going to take a little bit of time out of the game and in time find somewhere local when I can get Alex involved and ultimately play with him while I can and hopefully get him hooked on the game.
Finally I’ll also be a Griffin at heart and I’d like to thank everyone I’ve played with and the committee for all the support they have provided to me on and off the field. I truly love the club and everyone close to it which is why this is such a hard call to make."
