From a club perspective it is always good to report milestones and recognise achievements and we are pleased to communicate that 18 year old Freddie Chapman has become Barnsley Woolley Miners’s leading all time run scorer this spring, overtaking former 1st XI captain Beck Frostick.

Freddie joined Barnsley Cricket Club in 2012. At 6, his first season of playing Under 9s, where he would regularly make up the numbers. He played his first hard ball game the following year and played his first twenty over game a year later.

Freddie has captained all the age groups at the club, as well as South Yorkshire, throughout his time playing junior cricket and represented Yorkshire at every age group, too. He won every team honour as a club junior, winning the league and cup in all five competitions.

He has scored five centuries for the club over his very short career and made his first team debut at 15. He’s currently the opening batsman for the second team, and surpassed Beck Frostick to now stand on 4655 runs for the club, at 25.86, looking to become the first batter to score 5000 runs since our merger in 2017.

The club would like to congratulate the young left-hander and we are hoping he continues on the right path and starts to soon push for a regular spot in the first team squad.
