Owen Smith, 16 today, joined Barnsley Woolley at the age of eight has been awarded with an emerging players contract, after a strong summer at both club and county level. Owen broke into the first team at Barnsley mid season and scored half centuries in both the semi final and final of the Viking Cup. His 71 in the final was beyond his primitive years. He was also selected for the North of England at the Bunbury festival after starring for Yorkshire and was amongst the highest run scorers.
Harvey Round has been given an Academy contract, after breaking into the Yorkshire second eleven at the back end of last season. Harvey, an exciting pace bowler and handy batsman has joined the club this winter, as we hopefully help his development into a professional cricketer.
The club are extremely proud of both players and look forward to seeing them make their mark on the professional game in years to come.
