TEAM OF THE WEEK

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Phillip Chapman28 Apr 2022 - 07:22

WEEK 2

The second week saw the second team get off the mark and erase their twelve point deduction. The firsts and thirds will be hoping they can notch their first wins this weekend.

All three of one family have made it into this week’s team, well done everyone on making the team of the week!!!

Alex Gough

No opening batsman had his own way last weekend but Alex stuck to his guns on Saturday and shared a fifty partnership with Richard Ledger. Alex will hope that his starts soon turn into match winning innings.

Jason Booth

Despite a duck on Saturday, Jason withheld the hostile attack by the opening bowlers from Hoylandswaine on Sunday. He showed the younger players not to panic, if you’re getting good balls then stick with it. He finished with 30 having helped recover from two early wickets.

Oliver Bennett

143 was the highest score by any batsman in the league last weekend so it’s no surprise to see Oliver in this weeks team of the week. His promotion to the first team this weekend will be one to watch.

Jake Chapman

Just missing out on his first maiden half century, Jake won’t have to wait much longer with the way he’s shaping up. Jake helped make the fourth team scorecard look respectable, scoring more than half their runs.

Zak Jahangir

Zak has quietly started to develop himself in the middle order of the first team, he doesn’t look flustered playing Premier league cricket and the experience will be doing him the world of good.

Ali Jahangir

He’s made himself into a true all rounder with 38 and 4 wickets on Sunday to follow his 35 and a wicket on Saturday. He’ll need to be at his best to help the first team establish themselves in the Premier League.

Beck Frostick

Establishing himself as a leader within the first team, Beck has tons of natural ability whether it’s as a strike bowler, he took 4 wickets up top over the weekend, or as a finisher with the bat. He helped score 22 off the last over at Hoylandswaine with three maximums in a row as he made 49 not out.

Haider Jahangir

There’s life in the old dog yet, having returned with four wickets in the seconds victory at Sprotbrough. He stifled any hopes of the home side mounting a reply to Barnsley’s first innings.

William Chapman

He showed guts to come back from his die hard over on Saturday to record figures of 3 for 25 at Cawthorne. It wasn’t enough to take the team to victory but he certainly helped take it close.

Tom Butcher

Back amongst the wickets, Tom also scored 20 runs and at one point an unlikely victory looked on the cards. His 3 for 35 was the pick of the bowlers.

Waqas Tanveer

Waqas offered some resistance at one end against Whitley Hall, his 11 overs only going for 20 including 4 maidens and a wicket.
