The second eleven showed a lot of mental resolve to rescue themselves from 44 for 5 to score 200 in their home victory to Wickersley.
Thanks to a backs to the wall innings from skipper Andrew Clayton and Callum Bailey, reigning himself in at the start of the innings, they managed to add 84 runs for the sixth wicket.
It was a familiar story early in their innings, as batters found ways of getting themselves out, although Lucas Slatter can feel himself hard done by, as his run out was harsh, I’m sure his father Mark will have shown everyone the photo evidence.
Clayton was eventually dismissed for 36, Bailey then opened up as he put on 40 runs with Freddie Egginton (18). Bailey was next out for what turned about to be a match winning 84. The tail held firm as Barnsley reached 200 for 9 from their 50 overs.
Lucas Slatter got the reply off to a great start with two wickets in his first two overs. Then after a 60 partnership it became the Lewis Bray show as he bagged himself a five for, bowling 14 overs for 36 runs. Max Heseltine and Ishaq Shenwari also took a wicket each, as Wickersley were bowled out for 133.
