When the top two sides at Barnsley Woolley have so many players missing it’s inevitably the lower sides that struggle that was highlighted by the results of both the thirds and fourths on Saturday. Sprotbrough themselves were a young side, and it would have been an interesting game had 5 of the ‘regular’ third team lads been available. However it wasn’t to be and although those that stepped up didn’t disgrace themselves it was a bridge too far for Craig Wilkes’s side.
The main highlights were a half century for Alex Gough, who made 51. After that the batting couldn’t stand up in chase of 250.
Earlier the highlight from the bowling attack was Ethan Winstanley, who took 4 for 43.
