Steve Dixon takes over the reins from Adrianna Darlow, whose club commitments have had to make way for her county ties as she leads out Derbyshire this season.
Another young side for Steve, who shined when he stepped into the role as cover for AD last season and he’s relishing the opportunity to help blood tomorrow’s generation of talented youngsters at the club. He’ll boast six more teenagers in his side making a total of 21 out of the 44 players this Saturday under the age of twenty. There’s also a few waiting in the wings for their opportunity, so the club could field over fifty percent of players who’ve yet to leave their teenage years.
Archie Chapman-Stott will be the youngest player on the field this weekend as an Under 13. He’ll be joined by Isaac Wilkes, leading wicket taker for the team last season, and Hayden Parker-Wake who are both Under 14. Harry Egginton, Vinnie Chapman and Charlie Hay are all Under 15s.
Steve will lean on the experience of Craig Wilkes and has Paul Scattergood and Tom Oldroyd as his senior players. William Crowcroft will be keen to produce match winning performances in order to move up to the third team on a permanent basis.
Steve himself will be more than influential with both bat and bowl and we look forward to seeing the future of the club in his hands.
