The fourth team can take many positives out of their loss away to Adwick-le-Street. Adwick look like one of the stronger teams in Division seven, however Barnsley certainly gave the opposition a good game.
At 6 for 3, the away side may have been guilty of thinking it would be a short afternoon but 14 year olds Vinnie Chapman and Isaac Wilkes put on 59 runs. A fantastic achievement given their ages. Chapman was bowled 22 and Wilkes caught for 28. It was then over to the captain Steve Dixon to add 37 unbeaten runs at the end. The side finished on 142 all out.
Adwick reached their target with the loss of one wicket, that fell to 15 year old Charlie Hay. All in all skipper Dixon will be enthused about the performances of his young talented players and will hope that during the season, they can contribute to some victories for his team.
