The Under 17s got their season underway on Wednesday evening and recorded a comfortable win at West Bretton, who are hosting Cawthorne’s junior games.

Batting first, they lost Ollie Chapman-Stott for 17 before the majority of the runs were scored by captain Max Heseltine (47) and Harveer Batth (41). Bobby Wright provided the impetus at the end of the innings with 14 not out. Barnsley finished with 140 for 6.

Cawthorne were soon in trouble at the start of their innings, they weren’t up to the task against the impressive Bobby Wright, as he finished with figures of 3 for 7 from his 4 overs. At 24 for 4 and the game beyond them, Cawthorne rebuilt well to secure two points, finishing on 96 for 6.

There were wickets for Hayden Parker-Wake, Isaac Wilkes and Harveer Batth.
