On paper it looked a routine victory for the U17s at home to Monk Bretton and in the end it was just that, but the team lacked something in the field. Whether that’s the intensity they may need at some stage during the season or just complacency, it wasn’t the polished performance in the first half, that you’d like.

They restricted the away side to 90 for 4, with wickets for Hayden Parker-Wake and Max Heseltine, plus a brace for Isaac Wilkes. Switched on fielding, should have kept them down to less than 75, but overall, you’d be happy to chase 91 most weeks.

Max Hesletine and Harveer Batth, picked up where they left off last week and Max was the only wicket to fall for 33. Harveer carried his bat for 37, ably backed up by Harry Egginton who made 16 not out, knocking off the runs in 12.3 overs.
