William Nicholson made sure that the Colts continued their unbeaten start to the season as he steadied a wobble from his middle order. Alongside Dairen Hirst-Spalding, they shared an unbroken 113 run partnership to secure the twelve points at Woolley.

Cawthorne chose to bat first and lost first team regular Kade Fletcher after three balls, nicking off to Keanan Pretorius. Cawthorne amassed 200 for 6 from their 40 overs. There were two wickets each for Finlay Parker-Wake and Nicholson.

A decent start for the home team soon turned sour as openers Freddie Chapman (25) and Ethan Shillito (30) departed. Wickets then regularly fell leaving Barnsley needing a further 108 with five wickets remaining. However Nicholson’s 85 from 64 balls and Hirst-Spalding’s 30 from 55 was enough to see the Colts go 12 points clear at the top of the table.
